When Rachel found out she was pregnant with her son — now six months old — last April, she started practicing prenatal yoga right away. “I had already been practicing yoga once a week elsewhere, and was looking for a safe way to continue,” she said. “I figured prenatal yoga would be a good way to stretch. I found so much more at Aditi.”

Pretty soon, Rachel was religiously heading to classes several times a week. “I can’t imagine what my pregnancy would have been like without it,” she says. “I absolutely love the prenatal and postnatal classes at Aditi, and I recommend them to everyone I know. The classes always provide exactly what I need — physically and mentally — and they also provide a wonderful community with others who are going through the same life experiences.”

When Aditi began to offer online classes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rachel’s routine of attending classes didn’t stop. “I’m so grateful that Aditi shifted to virtual classes over the past few months,” she says. “My son was born around Christmas, and I’ve found that taking care of a baby requires different positions that my body still isn’t used to — like staring down at his face while nursing, or holding him on my hip. Postnatal yoga is critical to helping unwind the aches and pains that result.”

Rachel says the classes have also provided a much-needed structure to her week, as the days of her maternity leave started to blend together. “Combined with the fact that social distancing has been very isolating at times, it’s been so nice to continue to see everyone’s faces, even if it’s from afar,” she says. “And, I’ve also found that virtual classes have some benefits over being in-person — I can let the baby continue to nap while I jump into a class.”

She’s also marveled at how Aditi’s staff has been able to innovate with class offerings. “It’s been really inspiring to see Julie and the team continue to be flexible and offer this amazing yoga experience — and the community aspect hasn’t changed. I’m so grateful for the team, and can’t wait until we can all be back together again.”
